Perilaku Rasional Pelajar Melakukan Tradisi Nyethe Di Kampung Kopi Bolorejo Tulungagung

Abstract

ABSTRACT

Nyethe activity is the art of batik on a cigarette using green coffee grounds and a spoon as a tool to spread the coffee grounds between coffee drinks in Bolorejo Village, Kauman District, Tulungagung. The nyethe tradition is interesting because it is carried out by students and is related to student behavior. The purpose of this study was to analyze the rational behavior of students carrying out the nyethe tradition in Coffee Village Bolorejo Tulungagung. James S. Coleman’s rational choice theory was used in this study. Using a qualitative method with a Verstehen approach. The results of the study stated that students act as rational actors by using available resources such as coffee grounds, cigarettes, free time, and the social environment to achieve certain goals that are expressive or relational. Nyethe was consciously chosen as an alternative activity that can meet the social and psychological needs in student's daily lives. Therefore, Nyethe is not just a traditional activity, but has undergone a transformation into a meaningful rational action in the lives of today's students in Tulungagung.

ABSTRAK

Kegiatan nyethe merupakan seni membatik pada sebatang rokok menggunakan ampas kopi ijo dan sendok sebagai alat untuk mengoles ampas kopi pada sela-sela ngopi di Desa Bolorejo, Kecamatan Kauman, Tulungagung. Tradisi nyethe menjadi menarik karena dilakukan oleh pelajar dan berhubungan dengan perilaku pelajar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis perilaku rasional pelajar melakukan tradisi nyethe di kampung kopi Bolorejo Tulungagung. Teori pilihan rasional James S. Coleman yang digunakan pada penelitian ini. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan verstehen. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa pelajar bertindak sebagai aktor rasional dengan menggunakan sumber daya yang tersedia seperti ampas kopi, rokok, waktu luang, dan lingkungan sosial untuk mencapai tujuan tertentu yang bersifat ekspresif maupun relasional. Nyethe dipilih secara sadar sebagai alternatif aktivitas yang mampu memenuhi kebutuhan sosial dan psikologis dalam keseharian pelajar. Oleh karena itu, nyethe bukan hanya sekadar aktivitas tradisional, tetapi telah mengalami transformasi menjadi tindakan rasional yang bermakna dalam kehidupan pelajar masa kini di Tulungagung.
