Pemanfaatan Kitosan dari Cangkang Kerang Simping sebagai Penjernih Air Sumur

Abstract

Abstrak. Telah dilakukan penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kualitas air dengan penambahan kitosan cangkang kerang simping pada beberapa sasaran uji. Penelitian ini dimulai dengan pengambilan air sumur di desa Gempolsari, Porong, Sidoarjo sebanyak tiga macam sumur yang berbeda. Air sumur sebelum perlakuan dan sesudah penambahan kitosan dilakukan uji untuk mengetahui terjadi perubahan. Sasaran uji yang dilakukan adalah uji warna dan bau secara organoleptik, uji pH, uji kekeruhan, uji TDS dan uji Fe. Hasil air sumur setelah penambahan kitosan terjadi perubahan nilai parameter sehingga memenuhi standar air menurut Menteri Kesehatan RI.

Abstract. A research aimed to compare the water quality with the addition of chitosan  simping shells on some test targets has been conducted. This research begins with taking well water in Gempolsari village, Porong, Sidoarjo three different kinds of wells. Well water before treatment and after the addition of chitosan be tested to find out the changes. Objective tests conducted is a color test and odor test in organoleptic, pH test, turbidity test, TDS test and Fe content test. The results of well water after the addition of chitosan change parameter values so satisfy water standards according to the Republic of Indonesia Health Ministry.
