Abstract

German is a specialization subject that is taught at the high school (SMA) level of
education. There are four language skills that must be mastered in learning German,
namely listening skills (Hörverstehen), speaking (Sprechen), reading (Lesefertigkeit), and
writing (Schreibfertigkeit). Based on the results of an interview with a German class XII
class teacher at SMAN 1 Krian, students in class XII at SMAN 1 Krian still have
difficulties in composing German sentences. The lack of availability of instructional media
in schools is one of the factors. Therefore, to overcome the obstacles that occur in
learning German writing skills, teachers need learning media as a solution. Researchers
used visual media specifically for PowerPoint-based calendar media in learning to write
German in this study. The use of PowerPoint based calendar media in education and
classroom teaching is very useful and useful, especially for developing thoughts, adding
memory to lessons and fostering interest and motivation to learn. This research uses
descriptive qualitative method. Sources of data in this study were students of class XII
semester 1 SMAN 1 Krian. The research data is in the form of the results of the steps
in applying Powerpoint-based calendar media obtained from the results of the observation
sheet and the results of the questionnaire. The instruments used in this study were (1)
observation sheets, and (2) student response questionnaires to the application of
PowerPoint-based calendar media to practice writing German for class XII 1st semester
students of SMAN 1 Krian.According to the questionnaire that was distributed and filled
in by students, the Powerpoint-based calendar media (Daily Deutsch) made learning
German writing skills more interesting, fun, made learning easier, improved student skills,
added vocabulary, made students more active, shortened learning time, can be used in
groups or on a large scale, and do not make the class crowded.
