Matematika merupakan mata pelajaran yang banyak menggunakan simbol dan simbol merupakan bagian dari objek matematika, sehingga mengetahui cara pandang siswa mengenai objek matematika diperlukan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Salah satu pendekatan yang memperhatikan objek matematika yaitu pendekatan onto-semiotic. Penelitian ini berjenis deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pendekatan onto-semiotic siswa dalam memecahkan masalah matematika ditinjau dari kemampuan matematika. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan TKM, TPM, dan wawancara. Subjek penelitian yaitu tiga siswa kelas VIII SMP. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek kemampuan matematika tinggi baik dalam semua aspek yaitu aspek bahasa, aspek konsep, aspek proposisi, aspek prosedur, dan aspek argumen. Siswa dengan kemampuan matematika sedang baik dalam empat dari lima aspek yaitu aspek bahasa, aspek proposisi, aspek prosedur, dan aspek argumen, sedangkan siswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah baik dalam dua dari lima aspek, yaitu aspek bahasa dan aspek proposisi.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that uses a lot of symbols and symbols are part of mathematical objects, thus knowing students perspective of mathematical objects is needed in the process of learning mathematics. One of the approaches that pays attention to mathematical objects is the onto-semiotic approach. This research is a qualitative descriptive research which aims to describe students the onto-semiotic approach in solving mathematical problems reviewed based on the mathematical ability. Data collection techniques used are TKM, TPM, and interviews. The research subjects were three students of class VIII Public High School. The results of this study indicate that the understanding of students with high mathematical abilities is excellent in all aspects which are aspects of language, aspects of concepts, aspects of propositions, aspects of procedures, and also aspects of argument. The understanding of students with standard mathematical abilities is good within four of the aspects which are aspects of language, aspects of propositions, aspects of procedures, and also aspects of argument, while the understanding of students with low mathematical abilities is good in two of five aspects, namely aspects of language and aspects of propositions.
