Abstract

Women in the era of globalization play strategic roles across various sectors, including economic, social, and technological fields. Although access to education, training, and managerial positions has become increasingly available, women continue to face significant challenges such as the dual burden of domestic and professional responsibilities, gender stereotypes, and patriarchal culture that limit career development. Telkomsel, as one of the largest telecommunications companies in Indonesia, has demonstrated efforts to increase women’s participation, including in managerial and leadership positions, although the number of female workers remains lower than that of male workers. This study employs a qualitative approach with a liberal feminist perspective to analyze the experiences of women workers, explore gender equality dynamics, and identify the opportunities and barriers they encounter in the workplace. The findings show that women strive to navigate structural and social challenges through adaptability, professionalism, and the utilization of available opportunities. This research is expected to contribute to academic studies related to gender and employment and serve as a reference for creating a more inclusive work environment in the technology and telecommunications sectors.

Abstrak

Perempuan di era globalisasi memiliki peran strategis dalam berbagai sektor, termasuk bidang ekonomi, sosial, dan teknologi. Meskipun akses terhadap pendidikan, pelatihan, dan posisi manajerial semakin terbuka, perempuan masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan seperti beban ganda antara pekerjaan domestik dan profesional, stereotipe gender, serta budaya patriarki yang membatasi pengembangan karier. Telkomsel sebagai salah satu perusahaan telekomunikasi terbesar di Indonesia menunjukkan upaya dalam meningkatkan partisipasi perempuan, termasuk pada posisi kepemimpinan dan manajerial, meskipun jumlah pekerja perempuan masih lebih sedikit dibandingkan pekerja laki-laki. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan perspektif feminisme liberal untuk menganalisis pengalaman pekerja perempuan, mengeksplorasi dinamika kesetaraan gender, serta mengidentifikasi peluang dan hambatan yang mereka hadapi di lingkungan kerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan berupaya menghadapi tantangan struktural dan sosial melalui kemampuan adaptasi, profesionalisme, serta pemanfaatan peluang yang tersedia di tempat kerja. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan kajian gender dan ketenagakerjaan serta menjadi rujukan dalam menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang lebih inklusif dan mendukung pemberdayaan perempuan di sektor teknologi dan telekomunikasi.
