PEMBUATAN BRIKET DARI CAMPURAN BLOTONG DAN LIMBAH PADAT PROSES SINTESIS FURFURAL BERBAHAN DASAR AMPAS TEBU PREPARATION OF BRIQUETTE FROM FILTER CAKE AND SOLID WASTE OF FURFURAL SYNTHESIS PROCESS FROM STARTING MATERIAL BAGASSE

Abstract

Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sifat fisik dan sifat kimia briket campuran blotong dan limbah padat proses sintesis furfural berbahan dasar ampas tebu. Pembuatan briket dilakukan dengan mencampurkan blotong dan limbah padat proses sintesis furfural dengan perbandingan 10:40, 20:30, 25:25, 30:20, dan 40:10 dalam total 50 gram bahan. Dalam proses pembuatan briket, digunakan perekat tapioka dengan variasi perbandingan perekat dan campuran bahan 3:10, 5:10, dan 7:10. Briket yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi sifat fisik dan kimianya meliputi kadar air, kerapatan briket, kadar abu, laju pembakaran, dan nilai kalor. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa briket yang dihasilkan belum memenuhi standar mutu briket SNI 01-6235-2000 dengan sifat fisik yaitu kadar air berkisar antara 6,69−16,99% dengan kerapatan berkisar 0,7822−0,9526 g/cm3, sifat kimia yaitu kadar abu antara 19,89−34,46%, antara laju pembakaran 0,60−0,81 g/min, dan nilai kalor antara 2715,00−3242,57 kkal/kg.

Abstract. The aim of this research is to know the physical and chemical characteristics from the briquettes from filter cake and solid waste of furfural synthesis process from bagasse as starting material. The preparation of briquette is done by mixing the filter cake and solid waste of furfural synthesis with comparison 10:40, 20:30, 25:25, 30:20, and 40:10 in a total 50 grams of mixtures. Tapioca adhesive is used with a variety ratio of adhesive and material mixtures 3:10, 5:10, and 7:10. The briquettes that produced is characterized by its physical and chemical characteristics include water content, density, ash content, combustion rate, and calorific value. The results of briquettes characterization showed that the briquettes were not good as the standard from SNI 01-6235-2000, which have the physical characteristics such as water content about 6,69−16,99% with density about 0,7822−0,9526 g/cm3, chemical characteristics such as 19,89−34,46% of ash content, combustion rate about 0,60−0,81 g/min, and calorific value about 2715,00−3242,57 kcal/kg.
