ABSTRACT
This qualitative psychological research aims to understand the experience of heterosexual, married women who turn into lesbians and thus end up finding themselves into a mixed-orientation marriage. Using semi-structured interviews to gather its primary data, this investigation examines the cases of two married women in mixed orientation marriage. This study discovers that these women were faced with problems of adjustment after they became lesbians. It is also reveals that they see their marriage and sexual status differently. This differences stem from two factors: the quality of their relations to their spouse; and the existence of (or non-existence) of spousal support. The one woman, who finds herself in non-harmonious relations to her husband, has chosen to maintain her lesbianism and planned to get a divorce. By contrast, the other woman, who enjoys relatively better relations to her husband, has decided to preserve her marriage. With support from her husband, she is trying to abandon lesbianism in favor of returning to heterosexuality.
