Abstract

Kataikunci: Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), instrumen penilaian, keterampilan pemecahan masalah, pemanasan global.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)-oriented assessment instrument for measuring high school students' problem-solving skills in the context of global warming. The instrument was developed based on Polya's four problem-solving stages and integrated three ESD dimensions: environmental, social, and economic. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which comprises Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Content validation involved three experts, while the empirical trial involved 35 Grade XI students at MAN 2 Gresik, Indonesia. The validation results yielded Percentage of Agreement (PoA) values of 86% for both content and construction and 90% for language. All 20 items met the empirical validity criterion applied in this study, with a Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of 0.969. The difficulty indices of all items fell within the moderate category. However, item discrimination analysis identified three items (1b, 1c, and 1d), each with a discrimination index of 0.177. These items required revision but were neither revised nor retested before being used in a Grade X class. Therefore, the study provides preliminary evidence regarding the quality of the developed instrument while highlighting the need to improve and further test the items with low discrimination before recommending the instrument for broader use.
