KONTRIBUSI GAYATRI RAJAPATNI UNTUK KEJAYAAN MAJAPAHIT TAHUN 1309-1350

Abstract

Leadership often focused on the presence of a male figure who is seen as primary compared to a female figure. In modern era, the role of women has begun to be seen as their role as a leader, warrior, and motivator in many ways. Every woman who appears in public has their own characteristics, so that makes it unique and interesting to research. All these characteristics are born and emanate directly from the figure of a woman who tries to be a activator of change for herself and society.
Dyah Dewi Gayatri or Gayatri is a woman who has a contribution in the kingdom of Majapahit. Gayatri is the fourth daughter of King Kertanagara from the Singhasari kingdom. In addition, Gayatri is also the wife of Dyah Wijaya (the first king of Majapahit), as well as the mother of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi. Gayatri as a woman at that time had her own potential and specificities, which contributed to the kingdom of Majapahit. This research focuses on the contribution of Gayatri to the glory of Majapahit in the span of time between 1309-1350.
The research purposes are (1) To describe Gayatri's contribution in the process of achieving the glory of Majapahit in 1309-1350 and (2) To analyze the role of Gayatri for the glory of Majapahit in 1328-1350 and exemplary values for women today. This research uses a historical research method which consists of four phases, namely (1) heuristics, (2) source criticism, (3) interpretation, and (4) historiography. The primary sources in this research are the Berumbung II or Geneng II 1251 C (1329 AD) Inscription, the Batur Inscription (without a date), and the Tribhuwana Tunggadewi Inscription between 1256-1272 C (1334-1350 AD). Secondary sources in this research are books that discuss the history of Indonesia during the Hindu-Buddhist era, which focuses on the Majapahit kingdom era.
The results of this research indicate the contribution of Gayatri in her role as Rajapatni and as Makalamanggalya. Gayatri as Rajapatni and as Makalamanggalya, has an important position in the bureaucratic structure and delivering Majapahit kingdom to the glory in 1328-1350. Majapahit, as well as giving advice by forming advisory council or a grand deliberative council (Bhatara Sapta Prabhu) to assist in the government system.
The exemplary values of Gayatri figures are an inspiration for society, especially women. Gayatri's exemplary values are the ethos of learning, being brave, responsible, wise, and still positions Gayatri as a woman according to her power.
