PERKEMBANGAN TARI THENGUL DI BOJONEGORO ANTARA TAHUN 1991 - 2020

Abstract

Thengul dance is a dance created by Bojonegoro artist in 1992, namely Joko Santoso and assisted by accompaniment stylist Ibnu Sutawa (late) as the P and K party in Bojonegoro district. The dance is known by the public and has become an icon of Bojonegoro. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the development of Thengul Dance in Bojonegoro between 1991 and 2020. The research approach uses heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography methods. The results of the research are changes in the development of the thengul dance from 1991 - 2020 in the form of achievements and activities of thengul dance at national and international levels. This study also explains the efforts of the government and the studio community in preserving the Thengul dance. The conclusion of the research is that the Thengul Dance was performed in various events and festivals starting in 1991, namely the East Java Regional Dance Festival, in Madiun, the Bojonegoro arts festival cultural parade (2003), the teacher's art week event in Pamekasan (2011), the Javanese Cultural Festival Timur (2012) and the Cultural Festival in Jakarta (2013), and most recently 2019 at an international event, namely the Thengul International Folklore Festival (TIFF) and the Indonesian Independence Day at the State Palace.
