PERAN KAMPUNG LAWANG SEKETENG SURABAYA BAGI PARA TOKOH PERJUANGAN KEMERDEKAAN 1945

Abstract

This research is important because the history of Kampung Lawang Surabaya has an important meaning in terms
of village history and aspects of the nation's struggle. This village is a silent witness for the fighters in defending the
city of Surabaya as well as being the residence of the heroes, so it has historical value and can become a very interesting
new tourist destination if it is known by the public, especially tourists. This study has the following problem
formulations: (1) How is the condition of Kampung Lawang Seketeng Surabaya, (2) What is the role in the events
around November 10, 1945. This thesis research uses historical methods, namely heuristics, source criticism,
interpretation, and historiography to answer the formulation of the problem. studied so that the results of the study show
that: 1) The condition of Kampung Lawang Seketeng Surabaya is inhabited by the hereditary relatives of the fallen
fighters, there are 293 heads of families divided into 6 RT and 1 RW who are residents of Kampung Lawang Seketeng.
The socio-economic status of the residents of Kampung Lawang Seketeng is middle to lower with an average education
level of high school. The majority of residents are workers such as business people, private employees, traders, and
others. In the community who live in Lawang Seketeng, most of them are mothers by opening a culinary business at
home, this aims to help the family's economic income to survive, besides that in this village there is also a building that
can be used for business or can be called with a culinary center, many traders, the majority of whom are old residents of
Lawang Seketeng Village, can sell food in this place and in the current era, buyers can be assisted with onlineapplications so that people who sell can get easier profits. (2) The role in the incident around 10 November 1945,
namely that this village had an important role in supporting the struggle of the Indonesian people against the British
army during the revolution. Several locations in this village were used as places to negotiate and discuss tactics against
the British. One of the places used was in Langgar Dukur. After the battle, this village served as a residential area for
the people of Surabaya. The old age of the village can be seen from the houses in the old architectural style.
