Abstract

The beauty of a country can be seen from the variety of cultures that make it the identity and appearance of the country. Indonesia is a country that has beauty with cultural diversity in each region. To be able to maintain a large variety of cultures, of course, requires a maintenance and preservation of cultural diversity in each region. Therefore, for every maintenance of its culture, it also requires the participation of people who love the culture that is owned in each region. The purpose of this research is to understand, analyze, and describe the development of the existence of an area that maintains local culture as an effort to preserve the nation's cultural heritage. The case study of this research is Parikan Village, Surabaya City. This study examines how the process of Kampung Gadukan becomes Kampung Parikan from 2010 to 2021. Therefore, this study has the following problem formulations: 1). What is the background of Kampung Gadukan in getting the inauguration as Parikan Village, Surabaya City?. 2). What is the impact of the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) during the pandemic for the development of Parikan Village community activities? This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a crisis analysis study of historical facts such as heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The results of the study stated that the existence of Parikan Village as the first cultural village in Surabaya City is located in the North Surabaya area, Jl. Gadukan Baru, Krembangan District, Morokrembangan Village, precisely RT 07 RW 04. In Parikan Village, there is a ludruk group where the players is a native of Kampung Gadukan. The reason behind the name Kampung Parikan was given to Kampung Gadukan, because there are murals in every building that contain the words Parikan. Where, parikan is a typical Suroboyoan language. Thus, the existence of Kampung Parikan along with the ludruk group which is well cared for by the residents of Kampung Gadukan, has received a good response and support for the people of the City of Surabaya.
