Abstract

Surabaya is a metropolitan city that has a unique side in terms of tourism, where historical, cultural and MICE
tourism is something that is promoted by the Surabaya city government. To optimize tourism potential, the Surabaya city
government collaborates with Cak Ning Surabaya as the spearhead of tourism promotion. Cak Ning Surabaya has been
in existence since 1981 and was officially established as a community in 1985. Cak Ning Surabaya is a Tourism
Ambassador who focuses on the advancement of tourism and preserving the local culture of the city of Surabaya. This
research discusses (1) How the role of Cak Ning Surabaya provides an understanding of Surabaya City tourism to the
millennial generation in Surabaya City in 2005-2020; (2) What is Cak Ning Surabaya's strategy in conveying the
historical and cultural values of the city of Surabaya to the millennial generation in the city of Surabaya in 2005-2020;
(3) What is the impact produced by Cak Ning Surabaya on the passion for tourism in the city of Surabaya in 2005-2020.
This research is descriptive qualitative in nature using historical research methods, collecting data sources from former
administrators of Cak Ning Surabaya, and others. The second stage is through source criticism regarding the sources
that have been obtained. The third stage is interpreting the source in the style obtained, and writing it again using the
historiography method in the form of factual and chronological descriptions. In its development, Cak Ning Surabaya
began to emphasize its existence as a Tourism Ambassador in 2005. They began to show more massive involvement since
the existence of regional autonomy, where the importance of tourism increased at that time. The effectiveness of Cak Ning
Surabaya's role became increasingly optimal when it entered 2013. At that time, Cak Ning Surabaya started using the
social media Instagram @cakningsby_ as a means of introducing Surabaya tourism. Apart from the social media factor,
the existence of the SSCT Bus gives them more freedom to introduce tourism to tourists.
