The THE EFFECT OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING WITH THE CAPCUT APPLICATION ON IMPROVING STUDENT COLLABORATION IN HISTORY LEARNING IN CLASS X MAN 1 MOJOKERTO
Abstract
This research is motivated by the importance of collaboration skills as one of the 21st-century competencies that have not been optimally developed in history learning. Initial observations in class X-12 at MAN 1 Mojokerto showed that most students had not actively collaborated effectively in groups. Moreover, history learning was still dominated by lecture methods and had not yet maximized the use of digital media. Collaborative learning based on problem-based learning and integrated with the CapCut application has the potential to be an innovative approach to improving students’ collaboration.
This research aims to determine the effect of collaborative learning using the CapCut application on improving students’ collaboration in history learning. The research employed a quantitative approach with a onegroup pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 27 students of class X-12 at MAN 1 Mojokerto, selected using purposive sampling. The data collection instrument was a student collaboration questionnaire administered before and after the treatment, developed based on the indicators of Johnson & Johnson’s theory. Data analysis involved prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity), hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample t-Test, and N-Gain analysis. The theoretical foundation of this research is Vygotsky’s social constructivism, which emphasizes learning through social interaction and collaborative group work.
The results showed that problem-based collaborative learning supported by the CapCut application significantly influenced the improvement of students' collaboration. This is evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that problem-based learning implemented collaboratively can enhance students’ abilities in communication, cooperation, and effective group task completion. The N-Gain test results showed an average gain score of 0.32, which falls into the medium category. This indicates that the applied approach provides a moderately effective improvement in students' collaboration.
