Pandemi Covid-19 mengakibatkan banyak perusahaan harus gulung tikar, sehingga menyebabkan persaingan fresh graduate untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan di tengah situasi pandemi semakin sulit. Kondisi tersebut membutuhkan peran adversity quotient sebagai kemampuan individu dalam merespon rintangan dan situasi sulit agar fresh graduate dapat menghadapi berbagai kesulitan dalam mencari pekerjaan di tengah pandemi. Adversity quotient dapat ditingkatkan melalui adanya keyakinan dan ekspektasi positif yaitu yang disebut dengan optimisme. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui hubungan optimisme dengan adversity quotient pada fresh graduate Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian kuantitatif dengan rancangan korelasional. Alat ukur dalam penelitian ini menggunakan skala adversity quotient dari Stoltz (2007)dan skala optimisme LOT-R dari Carver dan Scheier (2002) yang diberikan secara online melalui google form. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 212 orang yang diambil melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria yaitu freshgraduate S1 lulusan Universitas Negeri Surabaya tahun 2019-2020, tidak terikat kerja pada suatu instansi atau perusahaan, dan sedang mencari pekerjaan. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi sederhana product moment pearson dan diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,530 yang artinya terdapat hubungan yang cukup kuat antara optimisme dengan adversity quotient pada fresh graduate Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa optimisme menjadi suatu hal yang penting untuk meningkatkan adversity quotient pada fresh graduate agar dapat gigih berjuang mengadapi kesulitan dalam memperoleh pekerjaan.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in many companies having to go out of business, which makes the competition for fresh graduates to get jobs in the midst of a pandemic situation increasingly difficult. This condition requires the role of the adversity quotient as an individual's ability to respond to obstacles and difficult situations so that fresh graduates can face various difficulties in finding work in the midst of a pandemic. Adversity quotient can be increased through positive beliefs and expectations, which is called optimism. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between optimism and adversity quotient on fresh graduates of the State University of Surabaya. This research is a quantitative research with a correlational design. The measuring instrument in this study uses the adversity quotient scale from Stoltz (2007) and the LOT-R optimism scale from Carver and Scheier (2002) which is given online via google form. The sample in this study was 212 people who were taken through a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of fresh graduate S1 graduates from the State University of Surabaya in 2019-2020, not bound to work in an agency or company, and looking for job. The data in this study were analyzed using a simple Pearson product moment correlation test and obtained a correlation of 0.530 which means that there is a fairly strong relationship between optimism and adversity quotient on fresh graduates of the State University of Surabaya. The results of the study show that optimism is an important thing to increase the adversity quotient of fresh graduates so that they can persistently struggle to face difficulties in getting a job.
