FANATISME AGAMA DAN INTOLERANSI PADA PENGGUNA MEDIA SOSIAL

Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana pengguna media sosial memaknai sikap fanatik kelompoknya dan intoleran terhadap kelompok lain dari sudut pandang mereka. Memahami sikap fanatik dan intoleransi dengan mengacu pada sudut pandang pelaku penting dilakukan agar dapat diungkap motivasi dan tujuan pelaku. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Enam pemilik akun media sosial instagram yang aktif dalam penyebaran isu bermuatan fanatisme agama dan intoleransi terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Mereka dipilih berdasarkan konsistesi dan keaslian postingan. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semiterstruktur. Analisis data menggunakan teknik Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa motivasi partisipan dalam penyebaran konten bermuatan fanatisme agama dan intoleransi adalah agar sikap keagamaannya diikuti orang lain. Mereka juga mamandang bahwa pemikiran keagamaan yang berbeda adalah sesuatu yang salah dan berusaha untuk membenarkan kesalahan tersebut. Partisipan memahami fanatisme adalah hal positif dalam menjalani sebuah praktik agama. Para partisipan juga memandang fanatisme sebagai bentuk rasa cinta dan ketaatan pada agamanya. Selain itu, para partisipan juga memaknai bahwa toleransi memiliki batasan, dan tidak bisa masuk dalam ranah agama. Toleransi hanya berlaku dalam ranah menjani kehidupan sebagai warga negara.

Abstract
This study aims to explore how social media users who show their group's fanatical attitudes and intolerance towards other groups and interpret these attitudes and behaviors from their point of view. Understanding fanaticism and intolerance by referring to the perpetrator's point of view is important so that the motivation and goals of the perpetrators can be revealed. This study uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. The participants in this study are six Instagram social media account owners who have activities to spread issues regarding religious fanaticism that are more directed towards intolerance which were selected purposively based on the consistency and authenticity of the posts. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. Data analysis using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis technique. The results showed that the motivation of participants in disseminating religious content was to spread understanding so that other people would follow and see that different thoughts were wrong and trying to justify these mistakes. Participants understood fanaticism was a positive thing in undergoing a religious practice. Apart from that, the participants considered that fanaticism was a form of love and obedience to the religion they believed in. Participants also revealed that tolerance has limits and cannot enter the realm of religion. Tolerance is only in the realm of living as a citizen.
