Abstract
Nurses are a profession particularly vulnerable to stress, as they bear significant responsibility for patient safety. The primary challenge nurses face is increasing workplace stress levels due to high service demands. If this stress is not managed properly, nurses can become less productive and unconsciously display attitudes of indifference, laziness, ineffectiveness, and inefficiency, which can ultimately harm the organization. According to Basrowi et al. (2020), 83% of healthcare workers experience burnout syndrome, with 41% experiencing emotional exhaustion, 22% experiencing a loss of empathy, and 52% experiencing decreased self-confidence. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that around 450 million people worldwide experience stress (Perwitasari, 2015. This study aims to determine the extent to which social support and work environment influence the level of work stress on nurses in hospitals. The results of this study indicate that the work environment and social support influence the level of stress on nurses. The study can be concluded that social support and work environment simultaneously have a significant influence on employee work stress. This shows that work stress is not the result of a single factor, but rather a combination of various elements in the social and physical environment that influence each other. Therefore, a comprehensive approach is needed to overcome work stress effectively.
