Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik terbaik dari briket campuran kulitdurian dan buah bintaro dengan perekat biji durian meliputi kadar air, kadar abu, kadar zatmenguap dan nilai kalor. Tahap pembuatan briket meliputi tahap karbonasi menggunakan kilndrum, tahap pembuatan briket dengan penambahan perekat biji durian dan terakhir yakni tahapkarakterisasi sesuai standart mutu briket SNI 01-6235-2000. Syarat mutu briket sesuai SNI ialahkadar air dan kadar abu < 8%, kadar zat menguap <15% dan nilai kalor > 5000 kal/gram. Padapenelitian ini menggunakan perbandingan antara kulit durian : buah bintaro : perekat. Terdapat 3perbandingan yaitu 70:10:20 , 60:20:20 dan 50:30:20. Hasil analisis karakterisasi briketdidapatkan perbandingan terbaik yaitu 50:30:20 dengan nilai kadar air terendah 7,3%, kadar abuterendah 10,14 %, kadar zat menguap terendah 89,75% dan nilai kalor tertinggi 5721 kal/gram.Kata kunci: Briket, kulit durian, bintaro, pati biji durian.Abstract. The purpose of this research was to know the best characteriztics peel of durian andbintaro mixtures with durian seeds including water level, ash level, volatille metter and colorificvalue. The briquette making stage includes carbonation stage that using kiln drum, making briquettestage with addition of durian seed adhesive and the last is characterization stage according to thestandard of SNI 01-6235-2000 briquette. Quality requirement of SNI briquette was water level andash level < 8%, volatille metter <15% and colorific value > 5000 cal/g. In this research used acomparision between durian peel : bintaro : adhesive. There are 3 comparisons : 70:10:20,60:20:10 dan 50:30:20. The result of briquette characterization analysis was found the bestcomparison was 50:30:20 with the lowest water level of 7.3%, the lowest ash level of 10.14%, thelowest volatille metter was 89.75% and the highest calorific value of 5721 cal/gram.Keywords: briquette, durian peel, bintaro, starch of durian seeds.
