Association Between Vitamin A Supplementation With Stunting In Infants Aged 6-23 Months In Indonesia (Secondary Data Analysis Of SSGI 2022)

Background: Stunting remains a concerning public health issue, with a prevalence of 21.6% in 2022. Children who experience stunting tend to be more vulnerable to diseases and face potential cognitive decline in the future. One key effort to prevent stunting is the routine administration of Vitamin A supplements. Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between Vitamin A supplementation and the incidence of stunting among infants aged 6-23 months in Indonesia. Methods: This study employed an analytical survey method using secondary data from the 2022 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI). The sample included all infants aged 6-23 months across Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square tests and logistic regression analysis. Result: The prevalence of stunting was found to be 13.4% (13,346 infants). Regarding Vitamin A supplementation, 18.5% of infants received at least one dose, while 58.2% received complete supplementation. There is a significant correlation between Vitamin A supplementation and the incidence of stunting among infants aged 6-23 months in Indonesia. Conclusion: Vitamin A supplementation is a vital measure that parents can take to help prevent stunting in toddlers throughout Indonesia.
