CITRA DIRI PEROKOK WANITA BERJILBAB: SEBUAH STUDI FENOMENOLOGI

Smoking is seen as male behaviour since it is men who usually smoke. Therefore, smoking behaviour among women is considered as inapropriate, let alone women who wear headscarf for it serves as muslims symbol for piety. This research seeks to describe self-image among muslim women who smoke. It also examines factors that affect their self-image. It employs qualitative phenomenological approach. The subject of this research are five muslim women who wear headscarf and have been smoking for at least one year. Based on Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, this research finds out that the subject of the research has both positive and negative self-image. They began to smoke due to psychological tension from family and friends.

ABSTRAK
Perilaku merokok umumnya dilakukan oleh pria, sehingga perokok wanita akan mendapat penilaian berbeda di masyarakat terutama jika wanita tersebut berjilbab. Hal ini disebabkan karena jilbab merupakan simbol ketaatan beragama. Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan citra diri perempuan berjilbab yang merokok serta mengungkap apa saja faktor yang mempengaruhi citra mereka. Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dengan subjek penelitian berjumlah lima orang perempuan berjilbab yang merokok setidaknya setahun lamanya. Analisis data yang digunakan ialah analisis Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek memiliki citra diri positif maupun negatif. Seluruh subjek memulai kebiasaan merokok akibat adanya tekanan yang mereka alami baik berasal dari keluarga maupun teman.
