Abstract
Violence against children in Indonesia is an endless phenomenon. Children as victims accept every impact. This research was conducted with the aim of assessing the experience of violence and self-concept in children. The research method is included in qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The data analysis technique used an interpretive phenomenological analysis with six children as research subjects obtained from the purposing sampling technique through age criteria between 15 to 18 years and had experienced violence in the family at least three times. The results of the study show that children experience violence in various forms and their effects. The violence includes physical, psychological, sexual, and economic. The impact received by children is related to negative emotions and behavior, resulting in social deviations, academic problems, and the inability to rebel. In this study, it is known that there are different dynamics of self-concept towards children who experience violence, where the child's self-concept is more directed towards a positive self-concept. This is closely related to the relationship between children and their environment, such as family and the people around them.
Keywords: child abuse, teenager, self-concept.
