Abstract
Impostor syndrome makes students consider their achievements as mere coincidence and this is related to each individual's self-concept. This study aims to examine the relationship between personal self-concept and impostor syndrome using the Personal Self-Concept and Clance Impostor Phenomenon Syndrome instruments. The study used a quantitative correlational design approach and sampling was carried out using convenience sampling techniques. Respondents were 344 undergraduate students at Nusa Cendana University, aged 18-25 years, and had a GPA >3.50. Data were analyzed using JASP and have met the assumptions of normality, linearity, homoscedasticity, and no autocorrelation. The results of the study showed: (1) personal self-concept has a significant negative correlation with impostor syndrome in students, (2) aspects of self-fulfillment, emotional self-concept, honesty, and autonomy have a negative relationship with impostor syndrome, (3) aspects of emotional self-concept have the strongest negative relationship with impostor syndrome, (4) personal self-concept contributes 36.7% to impostor syndrome with a regression equation of y = 104.649 - 0.878x. These findings suggest that an individual's ability to understand and manage their emotions plays a significant role in their vulnerability to impostor syndrome. Furthermore, this study also imply the importance of improving their self-concept so that students develop a more positive self-perception and confidence in their abilities.
