Abstract
The shift toward hybrid work systems requires organizations to rely not only on leadership effectiveness but also on the quality of followers, highlighting the need to understand the role of followership in enhancing organizational performance. This study aims to examine the integration of effective followership with organizational performance within hybrid work contexts. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach by adopting the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to ensure transparency and rigor in the literature selection process. A comprehensive search was conducted using reputable global databases, including ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and Scopus, supplemented by Google Scholar, resulting in 12 relevant empirical articles selected for synthesis analysis. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between effective followership and both organizational and team performance, where characteristics such as high initiative, responsibility, and critical thinking contribute to improved synergy, work engagement, and productivity. Furthermore, the success of remote coordination is influenced by work autonomy, self-efficacy, and team trust. In conclusion, follower quality plays a strategic role in sustaining organizational performance in hybrid environments, and its development should be prioritized in human resource management strategies.
