PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING (CLIL) PADA MATERI LINGKARAN DI KELAS VIII SMP

Pendidikan merupakan faktor yang berperan penting dalam kehidupan manusia, persiapan sedini mungkin sangat dibutuhkan untuk menghadapi tantangan di masa depan, dengan mempersiapkan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas untuk menghadapi era globalisasi maka dibutuhkan pembelajaran-pembelajaran di sekolah dengan menggunakan bahasa inggris.  Salah satu upaya untuk membantu meningkatkan kompetensi siswa dalam memahami materi yang diajarkan menggunakan bahasa inggris adalah dengan menerapkan pendekatan Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). Pendekatan CLIL adalah salah satu upaya membelajarkan materi matematika menggunakan bahasa inggris yang terdiri dari empat komponen yaitu “Content, Communication, Cognition dan Culture”.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengelolaan pembelajaran guru, aktivitas siswa, hasil belajar siswa, dan respon siswa terhadap pendekatan CLIL pada materi lingkaran di kelas VIII. Metode penelitian yaitu deskriptif kuantitatif. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan teknik “one-shot case study”. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, tes, dan angket. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) pengelolaan pembelajaran oleh guru dikategorikan baik dengan skor rata-rata 3,28; (2) aktivitas siswa yang memperoleh persentase terbesar yaitu “membaca dengan aktif”; (3) hasil belajar siswa dinyatakan berhasil dengan persentase ketuntasan klasikal 76% dimana 19 dari 25 siswa tuntas; (4) respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan pendekatan CLIL yaitu positif.

Abstract

Education is a factor that an important role in human life, preparation as early as possible is needed to face the challenges of the future, by preparing qualified human resources to face the era of globalization it is necessary to learn in school using English. One effort to help improve the competence of students in understanding the material taught by using English is to apply the approach of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). CLIL Approach is one of the effort to learn mathematics material using english which consist of four component that is "Content, Communication, Cognition and Culture".

This study aims to describe the management of teacher learning, student activities, student learning outcomes, and student responses to the CLIL approach on the circle material in class VIII. The research method is descriptive quantitative. The study design used "one-shot case study" technique. Data obtained through observation, test, and questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that: (1) learning management by teachers is categorized well with an average score of 3.28; (2) the activity of students who get the largest percentage of "reading actively"; (3) student learning outcomes succeeded with the percentage of classical completeness 76% where 19 of 25 students complete; (4) student response to learning with positive CLIL approach.
