Corrections and Retractions

1. Principles

MATHEdunesa is committed to keeping the scholarly record accurate, transparent, and permanent. Published articles are treated as the Version of Record. Any substantive change is made openly and is never made silently.

2. Crossmark

The journal applies the Crossmark button, a Crossref service, to all newly published articles, on both the article landing pages and the PDFs. Clicking the button shows readers whether the article is current or has been updated, corrected, or retracted. Crossmark may also be applied retrospectively to previously published articles, particularly those that receive a significant post-publication update.

Crossmark metadata is deposited and maintained with Crossref through UNESA’s Crossref membership. It may include the DOI of the article, the DOI of this policy, the current status of the article, the DOI and relationship of any significant update, and other editorial metadata supported by Crossmark.

3. Post-Publication Updates

The types of post-publication notices (correction, expression of concern, retraction, and the exceptional actions of removal and replacement), the grounds for each, and the procedure for investigating and deciding on them are described in the Retraction and Correction Policy of MATHEdunesa. This page covers only how those updates are shown through Crossmark and Crossref.

4. How Updates Appear in Crossmark

  • Every formal notice is published as a separate record with its own DOI and is linked in both directions with the original article.
  • Each notice is registered with Crossref so that the update appears in Crossmark.
  • The current status of an affected article (for example “Retracted”) is shown on its landing page, in the PDF, and in the metadata.
  • Minor updates, such as typographical or formatting corrections that do not affect meaning or conclusions, do not normally require a separate notice, DOI, or Crossmark update.
  • Editorially significant updates are never made through silent in-place modification of the original article.

5. Manuscript Withdrawal

Withdrawal applies only to manuscripts that have not yet been publicly published. Assigning a DOI does not by itself mean a manuscript has been published. Once an article is publicly available (as Article in Press, Online First, or the Version of Record), concerns are handled according to the Retraction and Correction Policy.

6. Editorial Independence

All decisions on post-publication updates are made by the Editors on scholarly, ethical, and legal grounds only, and are not influenced by the authors’ affiliation, payment status, or institutional interests.
