Abstrack
This study aimed to know the difference of self-confidence between female and male athlete students at State University of Surabaya. This study used quantitative study methods. The subjects in this study were 80 consisting of 40 female athlete students and 40 male athlete students. The range of age was between 18-24 years with average was 20 years old. Data collection techniques in this study used secondary data, namely documentation data to find out the subject was still an active student and student member of the Unesa sports UKM and primary data was the form of a confidence scale instrument. The data analysis technique was the independent sample t-test. Based on the results of the independent sample t-test, it is known that the calculated T value on the results of self-confidence is 0.447 with a significance value of 0.657. The value of T table with a significance level of 5% and df = 48 is 0.679. Because the calculated T value < T table (0.447 <0.679) and the significance value is 0.657 > 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference in self-confidence results between female athletes and male athletes. The average value of self-confidence results in female athletes is 110.32 and male athletes is 111.32. it can be said that there is no difference in self-confidence results between female athletes and male athletes. Another factor causing the results of the study that showed no difference in self-confidence was the age range which was not much different, so there was potential for research subjects to have similarities in understanding and experience so that differences in confidence did not appear in this study.
