Abstract
Background: Home is not merely a physical dwelling but a lived space in which identity, social relationships, belonging, and emotional experiences are constructed and negotiated. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the literature on the interconnections among home, belonging, identity, homemaking, place attachment, and social inclusion to formulate a conceptual understanding of Reimagining Home. The study employs a qualitative approach through a literature research design. The data consist of secondary sources, including scholarly journal articles, academic books, and relevant scientific publications, particularly literature published between 2018 and 2026 alongside foundational works. Data were collected through documentation and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings identify three main themes: (1) home as a multidimensional experience shaped through homemaking, placemaking, lived experiences, and identity; (2) belonging, social relationships, and social inclusion as interconnected dimensions that construct home as a relational experience; and (3) Reimagining Home as a relational, dynamic, and inclusive conceptualization of home. This study contributes conceptually by integrating these dimensions to extend the understanding of home beyond physical housing toward a lived space where individuals can experience safety, acceptance, connection, identity, belonging, and meaningful participation within their social environment. The study seeks to reconceptualize home from a more inclusive perspective.
