DEVELOPING SELF-CAPACITY IN THE LEADERSHIP MEMBERS OF THE AISYIYAH BRANCH OF BOJONEGORO DISTRICT KANOR IN THE FRAMEWORK OF WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT

Abstract

Self-capacity development is an important aspect in women's empowerment efforts, especially for members of the Aisyiyah Kanor Branch Leadership in Bojonegoro Regency. The conditions of low education levels, limited skills, and less than optimal economic independence and self-confidence of members are the background of this research. This study aims to describe the process of self-capacity development of PCA Aisyiyah Kanor members and identify the impacts that arise in the framework of women's empowerment. This study uses Amartya Sen's Capability Theory. The method used is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the self-capacity development of Aisyiyah Kanor Branch Leadership members is divided into two aspects, namely self-capacity development in economic independence and self-capacity development in social independence. Self-capacity development in economic independence is realized through various activities, such as food bazaars, bouquet-making training, and jenang ayas-making training. Meanwhile, self-capacity development in social independence is carried out through corpse-washing training and health education regarding cervical cancer. The resulting impact is seen in the increasing quality of members' self, marked by increased economic independence, self-confidence, communication skills and increased health knowledge as well as the ability to solve problems and make decisions.
