Peer Review Policy

Kajian Moral dan Kewarganegaraan (KMKn) implements a rigorous and impartial peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and scholarly relevance of published manuscripts.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their alignment with the journal's aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, originality, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that meet these requirements proceed to the peer-review stage.

Eligible manuscripts are evaluated through a blind peer-review process involving two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research expertise, and disciplinary competence.

The review process evaluates the following criteria:

  1. Originality and Scholarly Contribution: The novelty, significance, and contribution of the research to existing scholarship.

  2. Relevance to the Journal's Scope: The manuscript's contribution to Pancasila and citizenship education, moral and character education, civic competence, or related social, political, and legal studies.

  3. Methodological Rigor: The appropriateness of the research design, methods, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.

  4. Clarity and Academic Quality: The coherence of arguments, organization, academic writing, and presentation of findings.

  5. Theoretical and Practical Implications: The relevance of the findings for educational scholarship, civic learning, policy, and societal development.

Reviewers provide objective and constructive evaluations to support editorial decisions and improve manuscript quality. The Editorial Board considers the reviewers' recommendations, while the final publication decision remains the responsibility of the editors.

Editorial decisions fall into four categories:

  1. Accepted Without Revision: The manuscript meets the journal's publication standards and requires no substantive changes.

  2. Minor Revisions Required: The manuscript requires limited revisions to improve clarity, presentation, or specific aspects of its content.

  3. Major Revisions Required: The manuscript requires substantial improvements to its theoretical framework, methodology, analysis, or scholarly discussion before further editorial consideration.

  4. Rejected: The manuscript does not sufficiently meet the journal's standards regarding scope, originality, methodological quality, scholarly contribution, or presentation.

Editorial decisions and reviewers' comments are communicated to the corresponding author. Authors are expected to address the reviewers' and editors' recommendations and submit revised manuscripts within eight weeks of receiving the revision notification.

KMKn upholds confidentiality, impartiality, and academic integrity throughout the editorial and peer-review process. Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, provide evidence-based evaluations, and disclose potential conflicts of interest in accordance with the journal's publication ethics.
