Abstract

Background: Chrononutrition examines meal timing as a determinant of metabolic regulation equally significant as food amount, type, and quality, given its link to circadian rhythm regulation. Circadian misalignment from disrupted eating patterns is associated with the substantial global burden of non-communicable diseases, underscoring the importance of assessing chrononutrition behavior for prevention. To date, Indonesia has lacked a validated instrument for comprehensively assessing chrononutrition profiles. Purpose: This study aims to adapt and validate the Indonesian-language version of the Chrononutrition Profile Questionnaire (CP-Q). Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional study involved 30 respondents aged 45–59 years at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, recruited via accidental sampling. Adaptation began with one-way translation, followed by content validity testing by four expert judges using the Content Validity Index (I-CVI and S-CVI), face validity testing through pilot testing, and test-retest reliability testing at a seven-day interval using Cronbach's Alpha and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Results: All CP-Q items showed high validity (I-CVI=1; S-CVI/UA≥0.8; S-CVI/Ave≥0.9) and excellent face validity (S-FVI/Ave=0.9925; S-FVI/UA=0.8888), with ICC values of 0.680–0.997 (p<0.05), indicating good internal consistency. Conclusion: The Indonesian version of the CP-Q is a valid, reliable, and easily understood instrument for assessing chrononutrition profiles. However, its generalizability remains limited, and future adaptations should more closely follow established guidelines for developing health survey instruments.
