Abstract
Job stress is an employee problem that is caused by the workload that exceeds the ability of the employee. One aspect that contributes to job stress is emotional intelligence. Where individuals with high emotional intelligence are assumed to be able to reduce work stress using good ways. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between emotional intelligence and work stress on employees of Hospital X. The method used in this study was quantitative by distributing a questionnaire of two variables. This study uses a non-probability sampling technique by means of purposive sampling, where the employees of Hospital X will be taken based on predetermined criteria. The sample in this study consisted of 80 employees of Hospital X, then 30 employees will be taken to be the subject of the tryout and 50 employees as the research subject. The data analysis technique used is the Pearson product moment correlation technique with the help of SPSS version 21.0 for Windows. From this study, it was found that emotional intelligence had a significantly negative effect on work stress, with a value of 0.00 (sig. <0.05). The Pearson correlation coefficient value is 0.936, which means that the two variables have a very strong relationship category. So that the results obtained that the higher the emotional intelligence, the lower the work stress of the employees of Hospital X.
