Cara Seorang Mahasiswi Gen-Z Mengatasi Social Phobia (Performance Only Type) Dalam Menjalani Kegiatan Perkuliahan

Fobia sosial adalah gangguan kecemasan yang dialami seseorang dalam situasi sosial. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih mendalam bagaimana cara seseorang dengan fobia sosial tipe performance only mengatasi gejala kecemasannya. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah seorang mahasiswi generasi Z berinisial W yang memiliki fobia sosial tipe performance only dan sering memiliki tugas presentasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Dari hasil analisis data, didapatkan bahwa fobia sosial yang dirasakan W terjadi karena adanya pengalaman buruk di depan umum yang pernah dialami olehnya. Gejala kecemasan yang dirasakan oleh W sering dialami ketika ia sedang melakukan tugas presentasi di depan teman-teman dan dosennya. Meskipun begitu, W selalu berusaha tenang agar tetap dapat menjalankan tugasnya sebagai mahasiswa. Cara yang digunakan W untuk menenangkan dirinya ketika cemas adalah dengan menarik nafas dalam-dalam, menggenggam sesuatu dan menghilangkan pikiran-pikiran negatif.
Abstract
Social phobia is an anxiety disorder that a person experiences in social situations. In this study, the researcher aims to find out more deeply how someone with performance-only type social phobia overcomes their anxiety symptoms. The subject in this research is a generation Z student with the initials W who has a performance only type of social phobia and often has presentation assignments. The method used in this research is a qualitative method, with data collection techniques in the form of interviews. The data analysis technique used in this research is interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). From the results of data analysis, it was found that W's social phobia occurred because of a bad public experience she had experienced. W often experiences symptoms of anxiety when she is carrying out presentation assignments in front of her friends and lecturers. Even so, W always tried to stay calm so she could continue carrying out her duties as a student. The way W uses to calm herself when she is anxious is by taking deep breaths, holding onto something and eliminating negative thoughts.
