Doomscrolling Dalam Kehidupan Akademik Mahasiswa: Studi Fenomenologi

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi yang memicu perilaku doomscrolling, yaitu kebiasaan mengonsumsi berita negatif secara kompulsif yang rentan dialami mahasiswa tingkat akhir di tengah tekanan akademik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi secara mendalam pengalaman subjektif dan makna perilaku doomscrolling dalam kehidupan akademik mahasiswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan Analisis Fenomenologi Interpretatif (IPA), melibatkan lima partisipan mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Surabaya yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku doomscrolling dengan durasi ekstrem (5-15 jam per hari) dipicu oleh rasa penasaran, kebutuhan informasi (FOMO), dan upaya mengelola ketidakpastian sebagai koping maladaptif. Perilaku ini berdampak signifikan pada penurunan fungsi kognitif, peningkatan prokrastinasi akademik, gangguan pola tidur, serta kelelahan mental yang menghambat performa akademik. Simpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa doomscrolling merupakan bentuk kegelisahan digital yang merusak regulasi diri mahasiswa. Implikasi temuan ini menekankan pentingnya peningkatan literasi digital, manajemen atensi, serta penyediaan layanan konseling kesehatan mental digital oleh institusi pendidikan untuk membantu mahasiswa menghadapi distraksi informasi negatif di media sosial.
