Abstract

Flourishing merupakan bentuk tertinggi kesejahteraan mental yang dapat diukur melalui PERMA, yang meliputi lima aspek utama yaitu positive emotion, engagement, relationship, meaning, dan achievement. Salah satu faktor yang dapat meningkatkan flourishing pada mahasiswa adalah self-compassion. Self-compassion merupakan rasa welas asih pada diri sendiri yang diwujudkan melalui kebaikan dan pemahaman diri sendiri, kemampuan memandang pengalaman pribadi sebagai bagian dari pengalaman manusia secara umum, serta kesadaran penuh atau mindfulness. Sehingga pada penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-compassion dengan flourishing pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik simple random sampling yang melibatkan 336 responden mahasiswa aktif S1 Psikologi Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) dan skala The PERMA Profiler yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Berdasarkan hasil koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,632 dan nilai signifikansi sebesar < 0,001 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,01% menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif yang kuat antara self-compassion dengan flourishing. Dengan demikian, setiap individu diharapkan mampu mengembangkan sikap self-compassion yang tinggi sebagai upaya untuk mencapai tingkat flourishing yang optimal.

Abstract

Flourishing represents the highest form of mental well-being, which can be measured using the PERMA model consisting of five core components: positive emotion, engagement, relationship, meaning, and achievement. One factor that can enhance flourishing among university students is self-compassion. Self-compassion refers to a sense of kindness toward oneself, manifested through self-kindness, the ability to view personal experiences as part of the broader human experience, and minful awareness. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the relationship between self-compassion anad flourishing among university students. This study employed a quantitative correlation design with a smile random sampling technique, involving 336 active undergraduate students form the Psychology Department of Surabaya State University. The instruments used in this study were the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and The PERMA Profiler, both of which have demonstrated adequate validity and reliability. The results showed a correlation coefficient of 0,632 with a significance value of p < 0,001 at a 0,01% significance level, indicating a strong positive relationship between self-compassion and flourishing. Therefore, individuals are encouraged to develop a high level of self-compassion as an effort to achieve optimal flourishing.
