Abstract
The transition from education to the world of work is a crucial phase for fresh graduates and is often accompanied by uncertainty in career decision-making. During this phase, individuals face adaptation demands, experiences of rejection, and pressure to promptly determine their career paths. One psychological factor that plays an important role in this condition is self-efficacy, particularly the strength dimension, which reflects the resilience of self-belief in facing challenges. This study aims to explore the dynamics of strength of self-efficacy in the career decision-making process among fresh graduates. This study employs a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Participants consisted of five fresh graduates in the early stage of career transition, including individuals undergoing a training period. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, observations, and field notes, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that strength of self-efficacy is dynamic and fluctuates due to work demands, experiences of rejection, and adaptation processes. However, self-confidence tends to strengthen through reflection on prior experiences, experience-based learning, feedback from the work environment, and social support. This study concludes that strength of self-efficacy plays a significant role in helping fresh graduates persist, adapt, and make more realistic and adaptive career decisions during the early career transition phase.
