Abstract
The development of social media has provided a space for individuals in the emerging adulthood stage to express themselves online, one of which is through the use of second Instagram accounts. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-disclosure and online identity reconstruction among emerging adults who use second Instagram accounts. A quantitative approach with a correlational method was employed. A total of 386 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used were the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (RSDS) and the Online Identity Reconstruction Scale. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique with the assistance of SPSS version 22.0 for Windows. The results indicated a significant relationship between the two variables (p < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of 0.497 (r = 0.497), indicating a moderate and positive correlation. This indicates that individuals who engage in self-disclosure are more likely to reconstruct their identities online, as there is a statistically significant and positive relationship between the two variables.
