Abstract
Non-profit student organizations rely heavily on voluntary efforts, often facing challenges regarding member commitment. Ideally, religiosity can function as an internal moral anchor to substitute the role of financial incentives in maintaining member loyalty. However, field phenomena indicate that joining a faith-based organization does not guarantee its members will commit in accordance with the integrity and trustworthiness (amanah) values of the religion itself. This study aims to determine the relationship between religiosity and organizational commitment among active student organization members. This quantitative research employed a non-parametric Spearman’s Rho correlational design. The subjects consisted of 80 active functionaries obtained through a total sampling technique. Data collection used the adapted Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS) and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ). Data analysis revealed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.374 with a significance of p = 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a positive and significant relationship with moderate strength. Religiosity contributed 13.9% to organizational commitment. The affective commitment dimension was the most dominant, whereas the ideology dimension showed no significant correlation. Religiosity is significantly correlated with organizational commitment but cannot be solely relied upon as a single determining factor. Organizations need to strengthen collective religious practices to build affective bonds and internalize the value of amanah to foster students' moral responsibility to remain committed.
