Abstract

This study aims to implement the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by Infographic Cases (IC) and to analyze its impact on improving students' problem-solving skills. A quantitative research approach was employed using a true experimental design—specifically, a pretest-posttest control group design. The study involved three classes comprising a total sample of 78 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a problem-solving skills test administered before and after instruction. The results indicate that while all classes showed improvement in problem-solving skills, the greatest gain was observed in Experimental Class 1, which achieved an average N-Gain of 0.77 (high category), surpassing both Experimental Class 2 and the control class. Paired-sample t-test results yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) across all groups, indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. Effect size analysis revealed a "very large" effect, demonstrating that the intervention had a substantial impact on enhancing students' problem-solving abilities. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the PBL model with ICs—infographic-based electronic worksheets that present contextual problems through real-world phenomena. This integration fosters a more visual, interactive, and meaningful learning experience, thereby optimizing the improvement of students' problem-solving skills compared to PBL without such media or conventional instruction.
