Ekstraksi Natrium Silikat dengan NaOH pada Abu Sekam Padi dari Limbah Pertanian di Kecamatan Gedangan, Jawa Timur, dan Kuantifikasi Kadar Silikanya dengan Metode Spektrofotometri Molybdenum Biru

Abstrak

Sekam padi merupakan limbah pertanian yang berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber silika karena kandungan silikanya yang tinggi setelah proses pengabuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis secara kuantitatif kadar silika pada ekstrak NaOH abu sekam padi dari limbah pertanian di Kecamatan Gedangan, Jawa Timur, menggunakan metode spektrofotometri molybdenum biru. Sekam padi dicuci, dikeringkan, diabukan pada suhu 700 ℃ selama 4 jam, kemudian abu yang dihasilkan diayak hingga lolos 200 mesh. Ekstraksi silika dilakukan melalui tahap pengasaman dengan HCl, pengkelatan menggunakan Na2EDTA, dan pelarutan dengan NaOH 3,5 M melalui refluks selama 1 jam untuk menghasilkan larutan natrium silikat. Penentuan kadar silika dilakukan secara spektrofotometri UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 810 nm menggunakan kurva standar silika 0,2–1,8 mg/L. Hasil pengabuan menunjukkan rendemen abu rata-rata sebesar 21,18% dengan %RSD 0,72%, yang menunjukkan proses pengabuan berlangsung konsisten. Hasil analisis kadar silika pada ekstrak menunjukkan nilai rata-rata sebesar 1482,30 mg/L pada sampel 1 dan 1133,09 mg/L pada sampel 2. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa abu sekam padi dari Kecamatan Gedangan, Jawa Timur, berpotensi sebagai sumber silika terlarut melalui ekstraksi alkali.
